Pulled from our archives, the Packer Coat was a trusted mainstay for working ranchers and backcountry outfitters for decades. This reissue is insulated with PrimaLoft for an unbeatable combination of warmth and durability.
It's made with our signature Tin Cloth that earned a reputation for outstanding weather resistance and durability in the rain-soaked forests of the Pacific Northwest. This heavily waxed canvas features an exceptionally tight weave that’s virtually impenetrable to briars and thorns, and withstands the abuse of constant abrasion. The PrimaLoft insulation was developed when the U.S. Army needed a warm solution that would mimic goose down’s light weight and packability, and could also insulate when wet. PrimaLoft's ultrafine polyester fibers maintain their loft when wet, retaining 98% of their heat-trapping ability. Together, these legendary materials form a layer of protection as tough and warm as can be made.
The shoulders and sleeves are covered by a one-piece Tin Cloth cape for maximum water resistance. The front and back are covered with our signature Cruiser pocket array which includes four cargo pockets and a full-width, pass-through rear pocket. The shawl collar is lined with thick 100% wool for and extends to ear height for warmth in biting wind. Genuine horn buttons secure the front and the removable throat latch. Inner-sleeve cuffs are rib-knit to seal in the warmth.
